The National EMS Memorial Bike ride came through Bristol on Monday, May 20, 2013. This leg of the ride started in Paintsville, KY. 2 days ago. Local riders from Sullivan county EMS, Bristol, Va. Fire Dept. and local rescue squads also drove the final leg from the YWCA in Bristol TN. to the Southwest Va. Emergency Medical Services Council offices in Bristol, va.

Charles Anderson,9, attended the new Star Trek Movie Into Darkness at TriCities 7 Cinemas in Blountville on Friday. He is part of the USS Revelation Star Trek and SciFi club. The 30 member group is based in Church Hill and meets once a month for activities for families in the community.

Strawberries are out from Mann Farms in Ft. Blackmore, va. at their stand along Lee Highway on Wednesday. The crop is two weeks late due to weather and the stand sold 115 gallons in 4 hrs. Tuesday, the first day. Wednesday they brought 180 gallons and still had 10 at 3 pm.

The Fields-Penn House in Abingdon, Va. is getting some much needed gutter and trim work. In addition two white pines have been cut down in the yard as well. The grounds around another tree have been treated for compacted soil so the roots and tree will not be so stressed.
